 Anusara Inspired Yoga

Amy Abelson, RYT

Over the years, Amy has operated from the understanding thatas human beings we can align with the power of consciousness to reveal and manifest the heart’s deepest longings. In her own life, she practices yoga, meditation, contemplation, and self-inquiry, as a way to engage this creative power in the quest to be more fully alive, playful, creative, and compassionate.

As an Anusara-inspired Yoga teacher, a consultant and mentor, Amy helps individuals realize the deepest longings that comprise their vision for life, love and work.

Rachel Bush, RYT

Rachel came to yoga at the age of 19, already with sports injuries and very limited flexibility. Without her knowing it, she also came with a deep yearning to reconnect with her heart's voice. A strange thing began to occur after a few months of practicing: she not only felt better physically, but began a journey deep into the secrets and patterns of her body. Since those early practices, she has become a dedicated student and teacher of Anusara Yoga. Included in her study of yoga is also the study of Ayurveda, which she weaves into her life and teaching with enthusiasm. She believes that movement can help us to re-pattern the way we live in our bodies and open the door to our deepest longings and our greatest potential.

Zoe Becker, RYT

Elaine was introduced to the therapeutic style of Anusara Yoga soon after graduating from Oberlin College in 2005. She had recently finished an injurious year that included a torn hamstring and stress fractures to both her shins resulting from playing college field hockey. Anusara Yoga awakened a keen desire to not only heal but also reconnect with her body in a transformative way. After experiencing remarkable changes in her body, she began her teacher training at Yogaphoria in 2007 with Sue Elkind, Naime Jezzeny and Douglas Brooks. She passionately shares this experience with everyone she can and offers compassion, empathy, and hope through her teaching to guide people to connect more deeply with what is truly valuable to them.

A native Ithacan and Cornell Alumna, Zoe first came to yoga as a ballet dancer with a torn hamstring and lower back pain. While exploring many schools and styles of yoga teaching, she came across Anusara and knew she had found home. The combination of graceful alignment principles coupled with a heart opening philosophy spoke to her curiosity about the study of anatomy as well as her desire to help others heal themselves. Zoe completed her Anusara training with Ellen Saltonstall, Juile Dohrman, and Lois Nesbitt in NYC and continues to study with senior teachers across the country. She specializes in using her training in yoga, pilates, and Yamuna Body Rolling as therapeutic tools to build alignment and bodymind awareness. Zoe teaches in the Finger Lakes, New York City, and the East End.

Her classes are both challenging and nurturing while fostering a holistic awareness and appreciation for the meditative flow of Yoga.
